Email Notifications
Sometimes the transfer may not complete. When this happens the
User
will receive an
Email Notification
that the transfer encountered an error. Below are some examples and explanations of transfer errors.
Edit
General Transfer Error
This
General Transfer Error
will occur when the connection was terminated. A network port could have closed, a physical connection been broken or the file moved during transfer. If the file attempting to be transferred was deleted, your computer system will most likely not allow this as the file is considered 'in use'. you will also receive this email notification when you cancel the transfer yourself from Aspera. The system will see it as a terminated connection.
Edit
Special Character
You will receive this error message if you have attempted an
Upload
and some of the files contain special characters not recognized by Aspera.
Many of these characters are used by computer software in programming languages. If your file or folder has these characters in its name please replace them and retry the transfer.
Edit
Extra Long Filename
The computer can only recognize a string of 256 characters in the entire filepath. If the file or folder name causes this limitation to be exceeded the transfer will not occur. Please rename your file or folder in a more concise fashion. This can also occur if a file is deeply embedded in a folder structure (ie. a folder within a folder within a folder, etc.). Pull the file or folder you want to transfer to a higher level and retry the transfer.
