Navigation

  • Your Library view will list all the files/folders you have created and uploaded into the system in your particular Account. You can open any folder to view your file list.

  • If you have more than one Account you can access them from the drop down menu under the FileSociety logo in the upper left.

  • Above the tool icon bar is a Navigation Bar to move between Library views.

  • The Image Back Arrow and Image Forward Arrow change to the previous and next library views. The Image Home icon changes the Library view to the User's top level Library. The Breadcrumbs navigation displays the path of the currently selected file or folder. Clicking on the name of a file/folder will make it the top level in the Library view.

  • To the right, above the Search field is the Show user library… drop down.

  • An Admin can use this to quickly show all the files any particular User has access to. This tool allows the Admin to see the Library as each particular User sees it. To view all files in the Account again select My Library in the drop down or click on the ImageHome icon.

Search

  • Type the name of the file or folder you are looking for in the Search field.

  • Select the Image Magnifying Glass icon to intitiate the search. To cancel the search, select the Image icon in the Search field. The search function will display the file or folder in your Library window and its location will show in the Navigation Bar.

Refresh

  • Because FileSociety is a fully hosted application service, you will need to Refresh the screen after you have performed an Upload. Click on the Image Refresh icon and your page will update, displaying the files you have uploaded.

Upload

  • It is important that you first create a folder in your Account to upload files into. An Upload can only take place into a designated folder.

  • Select a current folder in your Library where you want your files/folders to upload into and then select the Image Upload icon. When the Upload window appears select the Add Files button and navigate to and select the files you want to upload. If you want to remove any of the selected files, simply click on the x to the right of the file and it will be removed.

  • You can notify any Users or Groups in your Account that you have uploaded these files. Select the Users or Groups you want to notify on the left and double click on a name or select the Image green arrow button to add them to the Recipients list on the right. You can choose to notify yourself as well by selecting the checkbox on the Upload page under the SET NOTIFICATION heading in front of Send a Copy to Myself. When you are ready select the UPLOAD button.

  • To monitor the Upload speed and time, toggle to the Aspera Connect Plug-in window on your desktop.

  • Once the transfer is completed, select the Image Refresh icon to view the uploaded files/folders.

  • If you have selected to send a notification you will receive an email and PDF File Transfer Report of all files Uploaded, the total amount of data transferred and the transfer time.

  • When naming your folders please avoid the following characters as they may cause the file transfer to fail:Image

  • Many of these characters are used in programming languages and using them in your file or folder names may cause confusion that will terminate the file transfer.

Download

  • Select the files/folders you want to Download and then select the Image Download icon. If you want to remove any of the selected files or folders, simply click on the x to the right of the file and it will be removed. You do not have the capability to remove individual files from within a selected folder, only the entire folder.

  • You can notify any Users or Groups in your Account that you have downloaded these files. Select the Users or Groups you want to notify on the left and double click on a name or select the Image green arrow button to add them to the Recipients list on the right. You can choose to notify yourself as well by selecting the checkbox on the Download page under the SET NOTIFICATION heading in front of Send a Copy to Myself. When you are ready select the DOWNLOAD button.

  • To monitor the Download speed and time toggle to the Aspera Connect Plug-in window on your desktop.

New Folder

  • An Admin can create folders in any library in their account. Select the Image New Folder icon. Type in the name of the folder and select the OK button.

Rename

  • The Admin can rename all files/folders in their account. Select the file/folder you want to rename and then select the Image Rename icon. Type in the new name in the text field and select the OK button.

Delete

  • Admins can delete all files/folders in their Account. Select the file/folder you want to Delete and then select the Image Trash icon. When the Delete window appears select Yes.

Notification

  • Select the files/folder you want to send the notification about then select the Image Notify icon.

  • You can notify any Users or Groups in your Account. Select the Users or Groups you want to notify on the left and select the Image green arrow button to add them to the Recipients list on the right or double-click on a name to add them to the Recipients list. You can also send yourself a message if you select the checkbox in front of Send a Copy to Myself. Next add a subject in the Subject box and a message in the Message box and then select the SEND button.

Info

  • To obtain information about a File, select the File you want information about and then select the INFO tab on the right-hand side of the window. The name of the File and info about it will be displayed on the right.

  • To obtain information about a Folder, select the Folder you want information about and then select the INFO tab on the right-hand side of the window. The name of the Folder and general info about it will be displayed on the right. Click on the Get Folder Info button to calculate the Folder size and file and folder count within the selected Folder.

Filter / Sort

  • To filter/sort any list select the heading and click the small arrow visible to the right. You can sort by the file name, the size of the file, the file type and the date it was uploaded into the system.
