EditNavigation
Your
Library view will list all the files/folders you have been given permissions to in any particular
Account by your
Admin. You can open a folder to view the file list.

If you have been invited to more than one
Account you can access them from the drop down menu under the FileSociety logo in the upper left.

Above the tool icon bar is a
Navigation Bar to move between
Library views.

The
Back Arrow and
Forward Arrow change to the previous and next library views. The
Home icon changes the
Library view to the
User's top level
Library. The
Breadcrumbs navigation displays the path of the currently selected file or folder. Clicking on the name of a file/folder will make it the top level in the
Library view.
EditSearch
Type the name of the file or folder you are looking for in the
Search field.

Select the
Magnifying Glass icon to intitiate the search. To cancel the search, select the

icon in the
Search field. The search function will display the file or folder in your
Library window and its location will show in the
Navigation Bar.
EditRefresh
Because FileSociety is a fully hosted application service, you will need to
Refresh the screen after you have performed an
Upload. Click on the
Refresh icon and your page will update, displaying the files you have uploaded.
EditUpload
A
User needs to have been given
Upload permission to a folder by their
Admin for
Upload to be available. It is important that you first create a folder in your
Account to upload files into. An
Upload can only take place into a designated folder.
Select a current folder in your
Library where you want your files/folders to upload into and then select the
Upload icon. When the
Upload window appears select the
Add Files button and navigate to and select the files you want to upload. If you want to remove any of the selected files, simply click on the
x to the right of the file and it will be removed.
You have the ability to send a notification to yourself and the
Admin of your
Account. Select who you want to notify on the left and select the

green arrow button to add them to the
Recipients list on the right or you can double-click on their name to add them to the
Recipients list. When you are ready, select the
UPLOAD button.

- To monitor the Upload speed and time, toggle to the Aspera Connect Plug-in window on your desktop.

- Once the transfer is completed, select the
Refresh icon to view the uploaded files/folders.
- If you have selected to send a notification you will receive an email and PDF File Transfer Report of all files Uploaded, the total amount of data transferred and the transfer time.
- When naming your files or folders please avoid the following characters as they may cause the file transfer to fail:
/ \ " : ' ? > < & * | , ; { } ( ) # @ !
- Many of these characters are used in programming languages and using them in your file or folder names may cause confusion that will terminate the file transfer.
EditError Messages
EditDownload
Select the files/folders you want to
Download and then select the
Download icon. When the
Download window appears you can see all files and folders and contents of folders that you have selected to download. If you want to remove any of the selected files or folders, simply click on the
x to the right of the file and it will be removed. You do not have the capability to remove individual files from within a selected folder, only the entire folder.
You have the ability to send a notification to yourself and the
Admin of your
Account. Select who you want to notify on the left and select the

green arrow button to add them to the
Recipients list on the right or double-click on their name to add them to the
Recipients list. When you are ready, select the
DOWNLOAD button.

- To monitor the Download speed and time toggle to the Aspera Connect Plug-in window on your desktop.

- A User needs to have been given Download permission by their Admin for Download to be available.
- If you have selected to send a notification you will receive an email and PDF File Transfer Report of all files Downloaded, the total amount of data transferred and the transfer time.
EditNew Folder
Select a
Folder in the
Library where you want the new folder to reside then select the
New Folder icon. Type in the name of the folder and select the
OK button.

A
User can only create
New Folders in an existing folder they have been given permission to by their
Admin.
EditRename
Select the file/folder you want to rename and then select the
Rename icon. Type in the new name in the text field and select the
OK button.

When naming your folders please avoid the following characters as they may cause the file transfer to fail:

A
User only has the ability to rename files/folders that they own (i.e. folders the
User has created and files the
User has uploaded into a folder).
Rename is available only if a
User has been given
Upload permission to a folder by their
Admin.
EditDelete
Select the file/folder you want to
Delete and then select the
Trash icon. When the
Delete window appears select
Yes.

The
User can only delete files/folders that they own (i.e. folders the
User has created and files the
User has uploaded into a folder).
EditNotification
Select the files/folder you want to send the notification about then select the
Notify icon.

As a
User you can notify your
Admin and any other
Admins in the
Account. Select who you want to notify on the left and select the

green arrow button to add them to the
Recipients list on the right or you can double-click on their name to add them to the
Recipients list. Send yourself a message by selecting the checkbox in front of
Send a Copy to Myself. Next add a subject in the
Subject box and a message in the
Message box and then select the
SEND button.
EditInfo
To obtain information about a
File, select the
File you want information about and then select the
INFO tab on the right-hand side of the window. The name of the
File and info about it will be displayed on the right.

To obtain information about a
Folder, select the
Folder you want information about and then select the
INFO tab on the right-hand side of the window. The name of the
Folder and general info about it will be displayed on the right. Click on the
Get Folder Info button to calculate the
Folder size and file and folder count within the selected
Folder.
EditFilter / Sort
To filter/sort any list select the heading and click the small arrow visible to the right. You can sort by the file name, the size of the file, the file type and the date it was uploaded into the system.
